Barcelona's Museum of modern art (MACBA) is the Spanish equivalent of Paris' Pompidou centre, an imposing white building in the centre of the Raval area, better known for its tiny, dark alleys and sometimes run-down buildings. The Museum itself holds a permanent collection along with many temporary exhibitions.
